Overview
The purpose of the USF College of Public Health Activist Lab is to serve as the hub of excellence in providing interdisciplinary advocacy, education, research, and service opportunities for students to develop the skills that will promote their success as effective public health advocates and leaders.
9th Annual Activist Lab Bootcamp
Immigration: Past, Present, and Future & the Important Role for Advocacy
The Activist Lab Boot Camp is an advocacy education and practice program built around timely public health issues, with the chance to learn directly from leaders in the field. This year's boot camp turns to immigration and advocacy, featuring presentations from exemplary speakers and a hands-on opportunity to draft position papers critiqued by legislators and advocates.
January 28, 2027: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
January 29, 2027: 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
What You'll Take Away: Presentations and breakout sessions led by experts in the field, position papers on immigration advocacy issues, opportunities to earn CPH credit, a digital badge to share on social media, and IPE credit: this program is an approved USF Interprofessional Education (IPE) activity
Functions & Activities
The Activist Lab focuses on six core pillars of engagement: advocacy, education, research, leadership, service and development of applied practice experiences and integrated learning experiences.
The Activist Lab utilizes evidence-based research as a springboard to offer advocacy training, podcasts, seminars and webinars while allowing student members opportunities to engage with and support their surrounding communities to effect real, positive change.
Through Activist Lab activities, students may also fulfill many of their APE and ILE requirements needed for graduation along with generating research and outreach projects. Activities include volunteering at the Lab, participating in lab activities and programs and developing new programs and activities.
