Welcome to the USF Health Department of Dermatology & Cutaneous Surgery Residency Program.

Thank you for your interest in our residency program. Since 1980, USF Dermatology has been committed to training outstanding dermatologists who excel in patient care, education, research, and leadership. What began as a program with a single resident has grown into a thriving residency that trains four residents per year and has produced more than 150 board-certified dermatologists.

At USF, residents benefit from a broad and comprehensive clinical experience across multiple training sites, caring for diverse patient populations and learning from dedicated faculty with expertise across the full spectrum of dermatology. Our goal is to provide residents with knowledge, surgical skills, clinical judgment, and professional development necessary to succeed in any career path, whether in academic medicine, private practice, fellowship training, or research.

What truly sets our program apart is our culture. We believe in fostering a collegial, supportive environment where residents are challenged to achieve excellence while building meaningful relationships with faculty, staff, and one another.

The University of South Florida Health Department of Dermatology & Cutaneous Surgery Residency Program was established in 1980 and has grown into one of the premier dermatology training programs in the Southeast. Today, the program is fully accredited to train twelve residents, with four residents entering each year. The program remains highly competitive, attracting hundreds of exceptional applicants annually.

Residents rotate through USF Health clinical sites and affiliated hospitals, gaining extensive exposure to medical dermatology, surgical dermatology, dermatopathology, inpatient consultation services, pediatric dermatology, and specialty clinics.

Our graduates leave USF equipped to pursue successful careers in private practice, academic medicine, fellowship training, and leadership positions across the field of dermatology.
